Memories of You

She doesn’t like memories.   
When she remembers the past (I am five years old and you smile at me, laughing) it is happy and her heart constricts in her chest because it is past, it is then, it is not now, and she doesn’t want to go closer in time to now.   
Because she is twelve (thirteen this year, old enough for love, I know it, I know it), and she will say to him, “I like you.”   
Because she thinks that he won’t react kindly if she uses ‘love’ instead of ‘like’ (because Mama says I am too young for love, and maybe he is, but I’m not).

This story was written in a very short period of time, something which shocked me at first when I completed it and reread it. It was a very emotional experience to write it.

A piece of my soul is with the protagonist, I might say; had I taken a different path, I might have (I say MIGHT HAVE) become her. As it stands, I am her partner, who wants so much to help but wants so much more to preserve the beautiful music.

I do not know anyone who is actually like this.

The talk was amazing. A. Ma. Zing. I get the feeling that the next time Neil's in Singapore people will be pushing baked treats called 'Stuffed Author' on him.

I passed the bag of messages and paper and pens around so more people could contribute, but I couldn't get them back to give to Neil myself, and for my efforts, wound up at the back of the queue. He did get the bag- I checked- but it was only after I'd left that I realised that I was short a bag of paper and six pens. (Queuing for four and a half hours and FINALLY seeing him put that out of my mind.) I went back to check, but no dice. I don't mind the paper- I've no use for that, but the pens... ah well.
